The Senior CT Technologist performs advanced computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and diagnostic accuracy. This role involves executing complex CT studies, assisting radiologists with interventional procedures, managing equipment performance, and contributing to the training and mentorship of junior technologists. The ideal candidate excels in clinical precision, patient communication, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Zakres obowiązków:
- Perform CT examinations and interventional procedures using appropriate positioning, immobilization, and patient counseling techniques.
- Select and apply optimal technical factors and imaging protocols for individualized patient needs.
- Review orders, collaborate with radiologists and nursing staff, and maintain accurate daily exam logs.
- Protocol imaging orders prior to scheduling and ensure completeness of documentation in the Radiology Information System.
- Prepare and operate contrast injectors; screen patients for contraindications to contrast or CT procedures.
- Maintain sterile fields and ensure proper preparation of medications, supplies, surgical packs, and contrast agents.
- Assist radiologists during interventional CT procedures by capturing precise images and supporting specimen collection.
- Perform post-processing of images, such as 3D reconstructions, and transmit finalized studies to the PACS system.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all CT systems and related imaging equipment; report malfunctions promptly.
- Provide patient-centered care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and monitoring patient needs throughout exams.
- Prepare and maintain IV access for contrast administration as required.
- Apply radiation safety measures following ALARA principles and document radiation dose for each procedure.
- Participate in Code Blue and Rapid Response efforts as part of the resuscitation team.
- Maintain room cleanliness, supplies, linen stock, and general operational readiness.
- Mentor and supervise student technologists; participate in shared on-call rotation for CT service coverage.
- Train and support new staff through onboarding and clinical orientation.
- Engage in ongoing education and stay current with CT technology and best practices.
- Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions as required.
Wymagania:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a CT technologist.
- Associate degree in radiologic technology, or two (2) years of directly related experience.
- Current Radiologic Technologist Certification.
- Current CT certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Valid Radiographer License (state-specific, if applicable).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) or more years of successful CT technologist experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and prior responsibility for mentoring or training CT staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in allied health or a related field.
